It is an Archipelago of more than 700 islands. The main islands are New Providence where the capital, Nasseau is situated. Nasseau is home to several historical monuments. The country has preserved its architectural heritage thus being a hub of tourist activity. The other noteworthy islands are Grand Bahamas which is more modern and cosmopolitan in spirit , Andros which showcases a more laid back approach and is a paradise for fishing, Abaco famous for its boat building industy and San Salvador with its pristine beaches which made even the great traveler Columbus to gasp in delight.
